The Bakkie Mattress company was started by former Springbok & Professional Surfer, Greg Swart. As a budding young Springbok surfer, he spent hours on surf trips across the country often in the back of a bakkie, getting to his destination feeling like death warmed up! Make shift mattresses & heaps of foam pillows never did cut it... leaving him wondering why nobody had ever taken the time to cut a mattress to the shape of a Bakkie. Since then, the early 80's, Bakkies have come a long way, and have become the vehicle of choice for many families and most outdoor enthusiasts. Greg did an excellent job in designing a mattress that will not only fit snug in a bakkie loadbin but that is very durable and comfortable. IPS4X4 started selling The Bakkie Mattress and was soon appointed the sole distributor in Gauteng. When the opportunity came up to buy The Bakkie Mattress company from Greg we did not hesitate. Outdoor 4x4 World (Pty) Ltd T/A IPS4X4 Accessories is now the proud new owners of the The Bakkie Mattress. We will strive to continue with the very high service levels Greg provided and even introduce a few new products.
